Spring Training 2028

For an assignment, I was directed to make a conceptual cap patch for 2028 Major League Baseball Spring Training. After completing the patch I decided to illustrate what the patch would look like for all 30 MLB teams, and expand the system to include designs for both the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues, and Spring Training 2028 as a whole. This project is conceptual and not associated with Major League Baseball or any of the teams.

One part of the prompt that stood out to me was to make the patch collectible. This led me to ideate on designs themed like patches that you might collect at National Parks, which also fits in with the theme of travel that Spring Training has used in past designs. I also tried to incorporate current trend and technology forward-thinking, specifically using different stitching styles and textures in the cap front design. The design is inspired by the 2026 MLB All-Star Game caps, featuring a chain stitched design in the base color of the cap to create a subtle pattern behind the primary cap insignias.
